track six

pigeon blue

Feverishly missing the normalcy of your touch,

The scurry and the scuttle and the fuss.

The flurry of your taxis and bikers in lanes,

the prestige and nostalgia and love from a million days.

So many people walked these streets full of hope,

Some drunk, some happy and some of the best people you’ll know.

Baby I’m not the first to write about New York,

but it’s so damn pretty, it’s so hard not to.

And so it does keep people stringing on and on,

It takes and takes and takes, the pull so strong.

Don’t get me wrong it’s what I’m here for,

New York, I love you more.

In my serenity,

in my serenity,

just me and my city.

In my serenity, in my serenity.

And then you take a stroll down Fifth Avenue,

the pigeon blue and neon lights consume.

And keep on going down to see the biggest buildings you’ll see,

surrounded by a swirl of angry seas.

And the sights you’ll see will never seem to cease,

and the Brooklyn Bridge has all my secrets to keep.

As you look out on Manhattan; all the stories she has to tell.

And, oh baby, she does it so well.

And so it does keep people stringing on and on,

It takes and takes and takes, the pull so strong.

Don’t get me wrong it’s what I’m here for,

New York, I love you more.

In my serenity,

in my serenity,

just me and my city.

In my serenity, in my serenity.

And I wish I could take it back,

Behind the subway doors,

and go all the floors I never got to go to.

And in the skyline glow,

I can see your hand holding mine and I know.

You make the city complete.

And so it does,

Keeps it stringing on and on and on and,
New York,

I love you more.
