track seven

What do you do when the morning coffee runs out and you can't brew more?
What do you do when he isn’t who he said he was before?
When you look into the water and feel like you’re bound to drown.
And you go out and find yourself alone in the middle of a crowd.

And he’ll come back a changed man,
Because he said he would because you knew he would.
And your weathered heart will understand,
When you have to pick yourself up-

What do you do when he says that you are his everything and more?
What do you do when he warps the feelings you know so well in your core?
When his words wrap around your skin like thorns,
So beautiful but a New York City heartbreak all in one.

And he’ll come back a changed man,
Because he said he would, because you knew he would.
And your weathered heart will understand,
When you have to pick yourself up, again.

Each time I built you up,
It’s because I just tore you down,
But you knew with your words my head would stick around, around, around.
And I’m sick of taking the blame,
When you took all that I had from me,
Everything,
You left me empty.

And he’ll come back a changed man.
Because he said he would because you knew he would.
And your weathered heart will understand.
When you have to pick yourself up again.

And he won’t come back a changed man.
Because you knew he wouldn’t, and you said he wouldn’t,
And you will learn to understand,
and you’ll have to pick yourself up again.
